She's 5!!!!!

No more four-and-a-half. Marissa's 5!
How did this day come so quickly? Way too quickly.
This child who has so completely captured my love, who was born to be my daughter - is growing up way too fast.
Maybe because I know she's the last, maybe because I've done this before and know how precious each moment is...I just think the time is passing way too fast and I can't slow it down. But I can be so grateful for the years while we are living them. And I am. I really, really am.

Marissa planned this year's party. I went with everything suggested, but put my foot down when our guest list topped 20. Fourteen girls actually came to Marissa's fairy themed party and they were so adorable when they started arriving in costume. Marissa was a perfect hostess as she greeted everything with a smile and/or hug and "Welcome to Pixie Hollow!"

We played games, made several crafts, ate cheeseburgers and chips, cupcakes and ice cream, and jumped in a bouncy house. Our original plan was to create a Pixie Hollow in the backyard, but since it rained the night before, we decided to keep the party inside and move the bouncy house to the driveway instead. Everything was fine, and the girls were so well-behaved. A party of 15 girls is SO much easier than a party of even 5 boys!

Let's savor 5 for a while! I'm just not ready for 6 to turn the corner...not yet.

Marissa's Baptism

What a significant and exciting day we had today! Marissa was baptized!!!
Marissa has been asking questions about Jesus since she was 2 years old. She accepted Jesus as her Savior on June 4, 2009. She has been relentless in stating that she now needed to be baptized. So today was the day.
The Bible says that the angels in Heaven rejoice when someone accepts Jesus as Savior. Do others in Heaven also get to see? I don't know. But if they do, I know Jaime was rejoicing. Mommy and Daddy were, too.
The faith of a child is so pure and inspiring. We love Marissa so very much and to see her make this adult-sized decision at such a young age is precious and pure and such a big responsibility to us as her parents. Our little one is growing up, moment by moment, day by day. We are so thankful to be a part of what God has in store for her.

Tiny Dancer

Our little dancer loves making up new dances...one right after the other. I won't make everyone watch all of them, but hope you like her interpretation in one. Of course, we admit again to being biased, but we think she has a talent for dance and creative interpretation for just being a four-and-a-half year old!
I also like the way Marissa continues to dance through distractions going on around her...her dog, Misty and Brayden just hang out, too. Everyone's used to her dancing all the time.
